Community Prophets

In partnership with marginalized communities around the world, Community Prophets is committed to producing broadcast drama, documentary and interactive programs that build long-term capacity, facilitate agency amongst youth and inspire new stories of empowerment.

YOUNG PROPHETS: Since 1998, the Community Prophets model has delivered a highly sought after program of digital and interactive media workshops that empower marginalised communities and youth.

We are focused on inspiring young people to value and assert their unique voices through creative expression. Community Prophets trains young people to control the means of producing digital media, re-connects them with their environment and community, raises their expectations of themselves and teaches them to create high quality media that validates their identity and their voices.

BROADCAST WORKS: Community Prophets creates broadcast media inspired and guided by unique stories and storytellers who rarely find a voice in ‘mainstream’ media.

The Community Prophets model was used to create the acclaimed 2005 ABC cross-platform children’s drama series Us Mob (ABC TV and usmob.com.au), and the 2009 AFI nominated drama Burn (burn-movie.com.au) and the 2009 AFI nominated documentary series Voice From The Cape (ABC TV and voicesfromthecape.com).

Community Prophets is currently training and producing film, television and interactive screen projects in partnership with diverse communities in Australia, Canada and the United States.
